Neither model is better. However, a company presenting itself as one while operating as the other is a warning sign worth taking seriously.
Ask directly: do you hold producer allocation, or do you source from third parties? A straight answer is the first test of any counterparty.

- Ask for a bank confirmation letter on bank letterhead, then call the bank directly

Expect a bank comfort letter request
Verification runs both ways, and buyers new to fertiliser trade are often surprised by this.
A serious seller will ask for a bank comfort letter — bank-to-bank confirmation that you hold the funds — before committing time to the transaction.
This is standard practice rather than an obstacle. A seller who never asks is either not moving real cargo or has not yet been burned by a buyer who could not perform.
Specification and payment
Agricultural granular urea should carry minimum 46% nitrogen, biuret maximum 1.0% and moisture maximum 0.5%. Automotive grade requires far tighter contamination limits and cannot be substituted with fertiliser material.
